If you work with a large document, a table of contents provides quick navigation. Fortunately, creating a table of contents in Word is easy and automatically updates as you add more to the document. Download and install Office com Setup to use Microsoft Word.

Word's automatic TOC generator inherits any heading that you add to a document and then creates the TOC on that basis. If you plan to create a table of contents, make sure that you headline each of your section headings.

Click an empty paragraph where you want to paste the table of contents.

Click the References tab.

Click Table of Contents, and then select the appearance you want to use.

That's it. Word automatically updates this table of contents each time you add or change a header.

Compare and merge two documents

If you have two versions of a document, either because someone has made changes in their own copy, a cloud backup has failed, or if you are just trying to figure out exactly what has changed between two versions of the same object, compare features and combine to use.

If you just want to see what changes exist between two documents, you can compare them. To compare two documents: office setup

Open one of the two documents that you want to compare.

Click Tools> Track Changes> Compare Documents.

Select your original document and the revised document files.

Type a name in the "Label changes with" text box so you can tell the difference between the two documents. In this way, Word adds a note that shows where each change came from.

Combining a document works in the same way, but the end result is a single document that merges the contents of both documents so that everything that is the same is overwritten:

Open one of the two documents you want to combine.

Click Tools> Merge Documents.

Select your original document and the revised document files.

When the documents are merged, the differences between the two are highlighted. From here you can go in and choose what you want to keep in the final version.
